New York, May.23 (SANA) President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, voiced on Saturday his keenness to visit Syria in the near future.
The remarks came during a friendly conversation with Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, on the sidelines of an event organized by the Qatari mission on the occasion of World Football Day.
On May 20, Olabi had affirmed during remarks before the United Nations General Assembly marking World Football Day that the Syrian people had succeeded in reclaiming their homeland and their right to a normal life after years of suffering.
In his address, published by the Permanent Mission of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations in New York, Olabi expressed confidence that the Syrian national football team would “surprise the world” in upcoming tournaments and competitions.
