EUROPEAN CAPITALS, March 12 (SANA) Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bodø/Glimt secured victories in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated visiting Chelsea 5–2, with goals from Bradley Barcola (10’), Ousmane Dembélé (40’), Vitinha (74’) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored twice late in the match (86’, 90+4).
Chelsea responded through Malo Gusto (28’) and Enzo Fernández (57’), but were unable to prevent the French side, the defending Champions League champions, from taking a strong advantage into the second leg.
In Madrid, Real Madrid defeated Manchester City 3–0 at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, with Federico Valverde scoring a hat trick in the 20th, 27th and 42nd minutes.
Meanwhile, Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt recorded an impressive 3–0 victory over Sporting Lisbon, continuing its remarkable run in the competition.
Bodø/Glimt reached the Champions League round of 16 for the first time in club history after eliminating Inter Milan 5–2 on aggregate in the playoff round.
The Norwegian side’s goals came from Sondre Fet (32’, penalty), Ole Didrik Blomberg (45+1) and Kasper Høgh (71’).
