Capitals, July 18 (SANA) Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and the Arab League on Saturday condemned Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and other Arab countries, saying the escalation threatened regional stability and violated international law.
Saudi Arabia condemned the continued Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, reaffirming its support for the measures taken by those countries to confront the attacks.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the attacks constituted a clear violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness, stressing the importance of halting all forms of military escalation to preserve the security and stability of the region.
Jordan condemned the attacks, saying they violated state sovereignty, threatened regional security and stability, and represented a serious escalation and a clear breach of international law and the U.N. Charter.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, Jordan also expressed solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait and support for all measures they take to protect their sovereignty and security.
Egypt condemned the attacks on several regional countries, describing them as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and a dangerous escalation that threatened regional security and stability.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry expressed Egypt’s solidarity with the affected countries and reaffirmed its support for efforts to safeguard their security, stability and territorial integrity.
Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy expressed his rejection of the Iranian attacks, saying the targeting of Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Kuwait, along with repeated attacks on Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, reflected an aggressive approach that threatened to widen the conflict and further destabilize the region.
Fahmy said in a statement that the attacks constituted a flagrant violation of Arab states’ sovereignty, international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
He said any attack on an Arab state amounted to an attack on Arab national security and the interests of the entire Arab nation, and called on Iran to immediately halt the attacks, de-escalate tensions and return to dialogue and negotiations.
Qatar condemned the attacks, saying they constituted a flagrant violation of international law, the U.N. Charter and the principles of good neighborliness, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Doha said targeting electricity generation and water desalination facilities in Kuwait had crossed “all red lines” and violated U.N. Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirms respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity and rejects attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure.
Qatar called for an immediate halt to military actions threatening regional security and stability and urged a return to dialogue and negotiations.
Over the past several days, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Jordan have reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones amid the ongoing exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the attack caused a fire at a power generation and water desalination plant, injuring several firefighters and one worker.
Jordan’s military said it intercepted and shot down 10 Iranian missiles targeting the kingdom.
