Bern, June 22 (SANA) Switzerland said on Monday that conditions are now in place for the immediate resumption of technical talks between Iran and the United States, following the first round of negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement between the two sides.
In a statement cited by AFP, the Swiss Foreign Ministry welcomed the progress made during intensive diplomatic discussions held overnight on June 21–22 at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland.
The ministry said the agreed roadmap provides a framework for technical talks to resume without delay, describing the development as a positive step in the diplomatic process.
According to the statement, the negotiations began on Sunday under a previously agreed memorandum of understanding outlining a 60-day negotiating period, which may be extended, to address outstanding issues and work toward a final settlement.
Switzerland also reaffirmed its readiness to support the process through its long-standing mediation role, aiming to reduce regional tensions and promote stability.
Earlier on Monday, Qatar and Pakistan said in a joint statement that Iran and the United States had agreed on a roadmap to reach a final agreement within 60 days, and had established a communication channel to help ensure continued navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as part of broader efforts to ease regional tensions.
