European Troika backs Ukraine-Russia dialogue, calls for ceasefire
Leaders of Euro troika support dialogue between Ukraine and Russia

London, June 8 (SANA)  Leaders of Britain, France and Germany, known as the European Troika (E3), expressed support on Monday for direct dialogue between Ukraine and Russia aimed at achieving a ceasefire and advancing peace negotiations, following talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in London.

In a joint statement cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP), the leaders stressed the need for the United States and Europe to play an active role in any direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv. They called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and underscored the importance of Europe playing a central role in the peace process in coordination with Ukraine, European partners and the United States.

The leaders also discussed security arrangements for the post-ceasefire period, emphasizing the need to safeguard European security interests in any future agreement.

Diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have continued in recent days, particularly after Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that proposals put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump could serve as a basis for reaching a peace agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
