Amman, April 26 (SANA) Jordanian House Speaker Mazen al-Qadi and Chairman of the Turkish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Fuat Oktay stressed Sunday that Syria’s stability and territorial unity are vital to regional security and represent a shared interest for countries of the region.
According to Anadolu Agency, the remarks came during talks in the Jordanian capital Amman, where both sides said preserving the unity of the Syrian state remains a key pillar of regional stability.
The two officials also reviewed burdens and challenges faced by their countries over recent years and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Talks also addressed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, with both sides renewing their rejection of any attempts to alter the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem or undermine the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
They stressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and called for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue that ends the occupation and guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people.
The discussions came during an official visit by a Turkish parliamentary delegation to Jordan aimed at coordinating positions on issues of mutual concern.
