Antalya, April 19 (SANA) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Sunday that Syria has not posed a threat to any party, stressing that the Syrian government continues working to fulfill the aspirations of its people while seeking to preserve stability and avoid conflict.
Speaking at a press conference following the conclusion of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Fidan said Türkiye sees the importance of supporting the path of stability and development in Syria in a way that strengthens regional security and creates suitable conditions for meeting the Syrian people’s hopes.
He noted that regional connectivity projects, particularly the transport of energy and goods through Syrian territory to global markets, are gaining increasing importance.
Fidan added that understandings exist among relevant parties to develop infrastructure, especially the railway sector, linking Türkiye with Gulf countries through Syria.
He said these projects have been discussed at leadership levels and focus on strengthening economic integration, energy security and transport development, adding that countries in the region seek development and stability instead of conflict.
Israel threatens global security
The Turkish foreign minister also said Israel poses a threat to global security, calling for an end to what he described as expansionist policies.
He accused Israel of seeking to displace Palestinians and said the international community must act to prevent that.
Fidan also addressed talks between Tehran and Washington, saying they had reached advanced stages despite remaining differences, expressing hope that unresolved issues could be settled during the truce period.
He stressed the need to extend the ceasefire if necessary and reaffirmed Türkiye’s continued efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which opened Friday, is an annual international platform bringing together leaders and officials to discuss global political and security issues.
