Doha, April 9 (SANA) — Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed on Wednesday, in a phone call, the latest regional and international developments, particularly the recently announced ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the talks addressed the political and economic implications of the truce, with both leaders stressing the importance of reaching a comprehensive agreement that ensures a permanent ceasefire and includes all parties.
The two sides highlighted the significance of the US-Iran ceasefire for the stability of global energy markets and the security of international shipping, underlining the need to safeguard maritime routes and ensure freedom of navigation.
Discussions also covered developments in Lebanon, where both leaders emphasized the importance of halting escalation, containing tensions and intensifying diplomatic efforts to preserve regional peace.
In an earlier statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the ceasefire announcement between Washington and Tehran, describing it as an initial step toward de-escalation.
