Damascus, Apr.8 (SANA) Syria condemned on Wednesday the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which led to dozens of deaths and injuries, describing it as a “flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates stressed in a statement the need for an immediate ceasefire, and full compliance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, in a manner that guarantees the protection of civilians and respect for state sovereignty.

The ministry also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in countering these violations, reiterating Syria’s full solidarity with Lebanon and its support for the Lebanese government’s efforts to extend its authority across all its territory and to ensure that weapons remain under Lebanese state control.
