Canberra, Mar 13 (SANA) Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced on Friday that Australia has asked its non-essential officials in Lebanon to leave the country due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.
According to Reuters, Wong said that a limited number of officials would remain in Lebanon to provide consular assistance to Australian citizens.
Since Mar 2, Israeli occupation forces have intensified attacks on Lebanon following rocket strikes launched by Hezbollah militia targeting Israeli positions.
The region has also witnessed rapidly rising tensions amid the continuing U.S.-Israeli–Iranian conflict since Feb 28.
