DAMASCUS, Mar.1 (SANA) Foreign Minister and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani stated Sunday that Syria stands firmly alongside Oman following reported drone attacks on a key Omani port and an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
During a phone call with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, al-Shaibani stressed Syria’s support for the Sultanate and other Arab nations amid heightened regional tensions.
Earlier in the day, an Omani security source reported that the Port of Duqm, located on the Sultanate’s southeastern coast, had been attacked by two Iranian drones, in addition to an assault on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, which links the Arabian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.
Since Saturday morning, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan have been subjected to Iranian missile and drone attacks, resulting in casualties, injuries and material damage. The incidents followed a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran.
