Ankara, Jan. 30 (SANA) Türkiye’s Ministry of Defense on Thursday reaffirmed its continued support for Syria in combating terrorist groups and strengthening its defensive capabilities to preserve national unity and territorial integrity.
Anadolu Agency quoted sources from the Turkish Defense Ministry as saying that continued violations by the SDF organization of the January 18 ceasefire agreement, including provocations, are hindering the integration process. They stressed that agreements signed between the Syrian government and the SDF on March 10 and January 18 are crucial for achieving lasting stability in Syria.
The officials added that Türkiye is closely monitoring developments on the ground and taking all necessary measures to ensure the security of its units and forces operating inside Syrian territory.
Earlier, on January 20, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced a four-day ceasefire across all operational sectors of the Syrian Arab Army, in line with agreements with the SDF. The ceasefire was later extended for 15 days to support a U.S.-led operation transferring ISIS prisoners from SDF custody to Iraq.
