Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday that Turkey will launch a special program to support Syria’s recovery under the Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Speaking at a meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) in Istanbul, Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s efforts to ease sanctions on Syria.
“Thanks to our efforts and contributions, the sanctions that have greatly hindered economic development in Syria have begun to be gradually lifted,” he said, adding that Syria must recover from years of conflict.
“Syria’s recovery is our priority; therefore, we are launching a special support program under COMCEC today,” Erdogan added.
Syrian-Turkish relations have witnessed a remarkable improvement since the fall of the former regime in December 2024, with reciprocal visits continuing to strengthen economic ties and support the recovery of Syria’s war-torn economy.
