Kuwait City, July 8 (SANA) Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday that its air defense systems intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles and 13 drones after they entered the country’s airspace early Wednesday.

Ministry spokesman Col. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said in a post on X that the armed forces detected the missiles and drones immediately upon entering Kuwaiti airspace and intercepted them in line with established procedures. He added that Kuwait’s air defense units remain fully prepared to respond to any threat to the country’s security.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said several overhead power transmission lines were taken out of service after being damaged by shrapnel from the interception operation.

The ministry said technical teams are working to restore the affected lines and stabilize the electricity network.

Earlier on Wednesday, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said the country’s air defenses had intercepted hostile missile and drone attacks.
