Beirut, July 3 (SANA) Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said the newly established Syrian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee will strengthen bilateral relations and lay the foundation for cooperation and coordination between the two neighboring countries.

In a post on X on Friday, Salam said the committee was established to enhance relations between Lebanon and Syria on the basis of state-to-state cooperation, serving the shared interests of both countries.

He said the agreement is based on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, and good neighborly relations.

The agreement was signed in Beirut on Thursday by Salam and Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani.
