Latakia, SANA – The Civil Defense department in Latakia said on its Telegram channel that strong winds yesterday afternoon led to the renewed spread of the fires, despite teams’ ability to contain the flames in the morning.
This was particularly on the Nabaa al-Mar axis near Kassab, which is one of the most difficult areas for the teams to combat the fires spread.
The Civil Defense indicated that Syrian, Turkish, and Jordanian firefighting teams, along with support teams, are deployed across dozens of locations along this axis, extending from Qastal Maaf toward the city of Kassab.
They are carrying out operations to contain the spread of the fires, establish firebreaks with heavy machinery, and monitor the cooling operations at extinguished sites.
