For the third consecutive day, firefighting and civil defense teams are battling raging forest fires in Jabal Turkmen forests, Lattakia countryside.
Firefighting teams are facing significant challenges due to high wind speeds, unpredictable gusts, rugged terrain, a civil defense official told SANA in a written statement on Tuesday.

‘’Containment remains moderate. Teams have successfully extinguished several hotspots, but are still battling in areas such as Bajoura al-Maa and the route connecting Al-Sukariya to Al-Rihaniya” due to mountainous terrain and hazardous remnants,” Abdul Kafi Kayal, Director of the Disaster and Emergency Directorate in Lattakia province told SANA.
Kayal confirmed some injuries among firefighters and a loss of a fire truck in battling the flames but stressed that “reinforcements have been dispatched” from Aleppo and Idleb, with additional support from Rural Damascus and heavy machinery deployed to carve out firebreaks to prevent further spread.
