Officials attend the announcement of the second edition of the International Reconstruction Exhibition (IMAR 2026) in Damascus.

Damascus, July 17 (SANA) Syria will host the second edition of the International Reconstruction Exhibition (IMAR 2026) from Sept. 13 to 16 at the Damascus Fairgrounds, bringing together more than 270 companies from 23 countries as the government seeks to attract investment for post-war reconstruction.

The exhibition, organized by Effect Plus for Exhibitions and Conferences, will be held under the patronage of the ministries of Economy and Industry, Local Administration and Environment, Tourism, and the Syrian Investment Authority.

Speaking at a press conference in Damascus on Thursday, Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh said Syria offers promising investment opportunities across a wide range of sectors, adding that the government is working to strengthen the legislative and regulatory framework needed to attract investment and turn opportunities into viable projects.

Barnieh described reconstruction as a shared national responsibility involving the government, private sector and civil society.

Agriculture Minister Basel al-Suwaidan said reviving the agricultural sector would be central to Syria’s economic recovery, urging business councils and investors to prioritize agricultural projects.

Mohammad Hamza, director of the Syrian Institution for Exhibitions and International Markets, said the exhibition would serve as a platform linking government institutions with investors, contractors, manufacturers and industry experts, with a particular focus on construction and infrastructure.

Representing the Tourism Ministry, ministry development adviser Satea Yassin said the exhibition reflects efforts to promote sustainable reconstruction through strategic partnerships, innovation and knowledge transfer.

He said the exhibition provides an opportunity for companies to participate in what he described as Syria’s largest reconstruction effort.

The inaugural edition of the exhibition was held at the Damascus Fairgrounds in October last year, with the participation of 260 companies from 23 countries.
