Syrian -Jordanian investment forum opens in Damascus with focus on partnership

Damascus, Feb. 12 (SANA) The Syrian-Jordanian Cooperation and Investment Forum opened in Damascus on Thursday, bringing together officials, business leaders, and investors from both countries to explore trade and investment opportunities across key sectors.

The forum, organized by the Syrian Business council in cooperation with the Jordanian Businessmen Association, is discussing investment prospects in Syria, the harmonization of economic legislation between the two countries, and mechanisms to enhance bilateral trade. The agenda also includes identifying opportunities in strategic sectors and encouraging partnerships between Syrian and Jordanian companies.

Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh, speaking during the forum, said Syria’s new approach places emphasis on partnership with the private sector.

“In the new Syria, we believe in partnership. It is not merely a slogan, but a practice carried out with the private sector, business leaders and society,” Barnieh said.

He added that economic and trade relations between Syria and Jordan have seen noticeable progress in recently, serving the interests of both countries.

“We are optimistic that these relations will continue to grow. The stability and prosperity of Syria will certainly be reflected in neighboring countries,” he said.

Organizers say the forum aims to strengthen economic ties and expand private-sector cooperation, particularly in light of regional efforts to boost economic integration and facilitate cross-border investment.

The meeting comes as Damascus and Amman seek to deepen economic collaboration and capitalize on geographic proximity and shared commercial interests.
