Beirut, Sept.6 (SANA) – The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday that Israeli airstrikes targeting the Nabatieh area in southern Lebanon had destroyed the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, further compounding losses sustained by the country’s health sector.

The ministry said in a statement, carried by the National News Agency, that the destruction of the hospital constituted a serious violation of international laws and conventions protecting healthcare facilities and institutions.

It noted that the hospital had suspended its operations around two months ago due to repeated Israeli attacks targeting Nabatieh and its surrounding areas, adding that its destruction further increases the damage inflicted on the health sector in the region.

Earlier on Sunday, a series of intense Israeli airstrikes targeting Nabatieh killed four people and injured 20 others, while causing extensive damage to historic buildings, government facilities and dozens of commercial establishments.
