Ankara, July 18 (SANA) Turkish authorities detained 119 people in a nationwide security operation targeting ISIS, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry said some detainees had used social media platforms to promote ISIS propaganda, while others allegedly financed the group’s activities through individuals linked to the organization or entities operating under the cover of humanitarian work.
The operations were carried out across 30 provinces in coordination with the Gendarmerie’s Counterterrorism Department and public prosecutors, the ministry said, adding that security forces would continue targeting ISIS operatives and the group’s financial networks.
On July 13, Turkish intelligence announced the capture of a senior ISIS leader in an operation conducted outside Türkiye before transferring him to the country. It did not disclose where or when the operation took place.
