Ankara, June 24 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Wednesday that extremist groups in Israel are working to undermine efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region.
Speaking at a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s parliamentary bloc, Erdoğan said there are groups within Israel that do not want conflicts to end and are seeking to sabotage initiatives and agreements aimed at resolving regional crises, according to Türkiye’s Anadolu Agency.
He said these groups view their security as dependent on destabilizing neighboring countries and are working to obstruct efforts to advance peace.
Erdoğan stressed that peace and stability would ultimately prevail despite attempts to derail de-escalation efforts, adding that Türkiye would continue to support initiatives aimed at achieving lasting solutions to regional conflicts.
Addressing the U.S.-Israeli-Iranian war, Erdoğan said Türkiye had pursued a policy based on prudence and reason, helping shield the country from the consequences of the conflict and preserve its security and stability.
He also reiterated Ankara’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts and any opportunity that could contribute to achieving lasting peace in the region.
The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on June 18 to address outstanding issues between the two countries, before launching a new round of negotiations in Switzerland aimed at reaching a broader agreement.
