London, June 9 (SANA) UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has called on British companies to halt all activities in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Speaking before the House of Commons on Tuesday, Cooper said Britain had strengthened its business risk guidance to make clear that British citizens and companies should not engage in economic or financial activities in Israeli settlements, which she described as illegal.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Cooper also called for increased measures against Israeli settler groups that benefit from land seized from Palestinians.

Her remarks come amid growing international scrutiny of settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories.

On May 11, the European Union adopted a new package of sanctions targeting Israeli extremist organizations and individuals accused of supporting illegal settlement activity in the West Bank.
