Islamabad, June 9 (SANA) Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Rodolphe Haykal and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir agreed on Tuesday to strengthen military cooperation between their countries following talks on defense relations and regional security.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the Pakistani military said in a statement that the two commanders discussed issues of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for expanding defense cooperation.
Munir reaffirmed the Pakistani army’s commitment to broadening defense ties with the Lebanese Armed Forces, the statement said.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Lebanon and Pakistan to strengthen defense ties and expand cooperation between their armed forces.
The meeting comes amid heightened diplomatic activity across the Middle East, where regional and international actors are seeking to ease tensions and address ongoing conflicts.
A source familiar with the visit told AFP that Lebanon remains an important issue in ongoing regional discussions, reflecting concerns over stability and security in the eastern Mediterranean and the wider Middle East.
