Abu Dhabi, May 16 (SANA) UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Saturday in Abu Dhabi with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East and their implications for regional and international security and stability.
According to the UAE state news agency Emirates News Agency, the two sides reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation and opportunities to strengthen them, with particular focus on defense and military affairs.
The discussions also covered regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the situation in the Middle East, the risks of escalation, and their direct impact on regional security and stability, as well as on freedom of navigation in international waterways.
The talks come amid heightened security tensions affecting international shipping lanes in the region, prompting countries including Australia to strengthen coordination with Gulf partners to protect global trade routes and ensure freedom of navigation.
