Washington, May 14 (SANA) The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that Iranian-backed terrorist groups launched over 350 attacks on US forces and diplomats in the 30 months leading up to President Donald Trump‘s February 28 military operation against Iran, averaging one attack every three days.
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated on the “X” platform and during a regional security hearing that these attacks killed four US service members and injured about 200 others, with Iranian-backed groups maintaining a steady pace of targeting US interests.
Cooper noted that months of operations isolated these factions from Iranian arms and support, though the effort cost 14 US lives during the operation itself.
He stressed that CENTCOM, established in 1983 to oversee 20 countries from the Levant to Central Asia, including Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, has confronted Iranian threats for 47 years, making him its 16th commander to address the “Iranian problem.”
