Riyadh, May 13 (SANA) Interior ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states held an emergency meeting in Riyadh on Wednesday, chaired by Saudi Arabia’s interior minister.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the session, attended by GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed al-Budaiwi, reviewed pressing security issues. These included the rapidly evolving regional situation and strategies to bolster joint security coordination and cooperation among member states, safeguarding GCC stability.
The meeting occurs amid heightened tensions in the Arabian Gulf following repeated Iranian attacks on GCC countries. These incidents have disrupted maritime security and global energy supplies, especially after Iran’s reported closure of the Strait of Hormuz, affecting supply chains and the international economy.
