Washington, May 9 (SANA) Satellite images appeared to show an oil slick spreading off the coast of Iran’s Kharg Island, a key export terminal for Iran.
Orbital EOS, which monitors oil spills, said that the spill appeared to cover more than 20 square miles (52 square kilometers) as of Thursday.
It appears that the spot was expanding south towards Saudi waters, without the cause of the oil spill that was detected off the western coast of the island being immediately clear.
Kharg Island has Iran’s largest oil terminal, oil pipelines, storage tanks and related infrastructure.
