Beirut, May 5 (SANA) Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeted wide areas of southern Lebanon on Tuesday, hitting towns across the Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil and Tyre districts, with evacuation warnings issued and injuries reported among Lebanese army personnel.

According to the National News Agency, Israeli warplanes struck the town of Jebchit in Nabatieh, alongside intermittent artillery fire targeting al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun in Tyre district, as well as additional strikes on Kafra, Siddiqine and al-Shaqif, and other areas in the south.

Overnight strikes hit the town of Shoukin, destroying a residential and commercial complex on the main road, while artillery shelling targeted Habboush, Mifdoun, Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

Reports indicated the use of phosphorus shells in agricultural areas around Zawtar al-Sharqiya.
In Bint Jbeil district, several towns were hit, including Qalaouiyeh, Rshaf, Baraachit and Kafardounine, along with repeated strikes near Haris and al-Ghandouriya, accompanied by artillery fire.

The Lebanese army said an officer and a soldier sustained minor injuries after an Israeli strike hit their military vehicle in Kafra while they were moving between positions.

In a notable development, the Israeli army issued urgent evacuation warnings to residents of Jebchit and Srifa, calling on them to leave areas within a radius of at least 1,000 meters ahead of planned strikes on infrastructure linked to Hezbollah militia.

The escalation comes amid ongoing cross-border exchanges of fire, with Israeli strikes coinciding with attacks announced by Hezbollah militia against Israeli military sites in southern Lebanon, raising concerns over a broader confrontation.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, Israeli attacks since early March have killed and wounded thousands, as daily military operations continue despite previous de-escalation understandings.
