Washington, April 26 (SANA) US President Donald Trump said Sunday that channels of communication with Iran remain available if Tehran wants negotiations aimed at ending the war, while reaffirming Washington’s conditions on the nuclear issue.
In an interview with Fox News, cited by Reuters, Trump said Iran could approach the United States for talks, adding that Washington maintains secure and reliable lines of communication.
He said Iranian officials are fully aware of the terms that would need to form the basis of any future agreement.
Trump stressed that the core condition for any meeting or deal is that Iran must not obtain a nuclear weapon, saying there would be no reason to hold talks if that requirement is not met.
In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said there were internal disputes and significant confusion within the Iranian leadership.
Last Tuesday, Trump announced a two-week extension of the ceasefire to allow more time for negotiations in Islamabad between the United States and Iran after an initial round failed to produce tangible results.
Washington has repeatedly said any future agreement must also address Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
