Cairo, April 25 (SANA) The Arab Parliament on Saturday condemned Israel’s decision to appoint a diplomatic envoy to the so-called Somaliland, calling the move a violation of international law and an infringement on Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a statement, the Parliament rejected any steps aimed at entrenching separatist entities or granting recognition to illegitimate entities in Somalia. It reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s unity and sovereignty and opposed any foreign interference in its internal affairs.

The Parliament also called on the international community to take a clear position against violations that threaten the security and stability of states.

Israel announced on December 26 that it had reached a mutual recognition agreement with Somaliland, the only country to have taken such a step. The move was rejected by Arab, Islamic, and other international actors. Earlier this month, Israel announced the appointment of an ambassador to the region.
