Abu Dhabi, April 20 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates Security Department announced on Monday the dismantling of a group linked to Iran that was planning to undermine the country’s security and stability.
In a statement, the department said members of the group were connected to what it described as Iran-affiliated “Wilayat al-Faqih” ideology and were involved in covert activities aimed at harming national unity and planning organized acts of sabotage and terrorism inside the country.
Investigations showed that the group’s members adopted extremist ideas that threaten internal security and sought to recruit new members through secret meetings as part of a coordinated plan with external parties to reach sensitive sites.
The investigations also indicated that the group members held meetings inside and outside the UAE with suspicious groups to spread misleading ideas, recruit individuals for external affiliations, and collect funds through illegal means before transferring them abroad.
Last month, the UAE State Security Department announced dismantling a terrorist network funded and managed by Hezbollah and Iran, arresting its members.
