Washington, April 19 (SANA) US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that an American delegation will travel to Islamabad to conduct negotiations related to Iran, stating that Washington is offering what he described as a “very fair and reasonable deal.”
According to Reuters, Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform that Tehran should accept the proposed agreement, warning that the United States would “destroy every power plant and every bridge in Iran” if the proposal is rejected.
Trump also said that Iran committed a serious violation of the ceasefire, while stressing that he still sees a possibility of reaching a peace agreement “either the friendly way or the hard way.”
He noted that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz costs Iran about 500 million dollars per day.
Following Iran’s renewed closure of the strait on Saturday, several security incidents were reported in recent hours, including gunfire targeting two Indian-flagged vessels and a container ship struck by an unidentified projectile about 25 nautical miles northeast of Oman, causing damage to several containers without fire.
Iranian media reported that Iranian armed forces turned back two tankers flying the flags of Botswana and Angola after warning them against attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Islamabad witnessed heightened security measures ahead of a possible new round of talks between the United States and Iran, with Pakistani sources reporting the arrival of two aircraft carrying a preliminary delegation from Washington for the second round of negotiations.
