Washington, April 12 (SANA) U.S. Vice President JD Vance left Islamabad on Sunday and said no agreement had been reached with Iran following marathon talks in the Pakistani capital. He added that the U.S. delegation would return to Washington.
Vance said in a statement before departing Pakistan, cited by Agence France-Presse, that “the American delegation, after 21 hours of negotiations, will leave after submitting its final and best offer,” adding: “We will see if the Iranians accept it.” He departed aboard the vice presidential aircraft, Air Force Two.
He said Iran had chosen not to accept U.S. conditions and had not committed to halting its nuclear program.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in a post on X that progress in the diplomatic process with the United States depends on the seriousness of the other side and avoiding what he described as “excessive and illegal demands.”
U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States was engaged in “very deep” negotiations with Iran in Islamabad, adding that “regardless of what happens, we win.”
In separate remarks, Trump said the United States had neutralized Iran’s naval capabilities and destroyed about 150 vessels.
He also confirmed that two warships transited the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. He said the mission aims to secure the waterway from mines and ensure freedom of navigation. Trump also criticized some NATO countries for what he described as neutrality during the conflict.
