Washington, April 10 (SANA) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday warned Iran against imposing fees on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Iran “should not” charge oil tankers transiting the strategic waterway, adding: “They better not be and, if they are, they better stop immediately.”
His remarks come amid heightened tensions over navigation in the Strait, a key global energy corridor.
Earlier this week, Trump announced a two-week suspension of military strikes against Iran, conditional on Tehran fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring the security of maritime traffic. He also expressed confidence that a comprehensive peace agreement in the region could be reached soon.
