Vienna, March 30 (SANA) The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Sunday that Iran’s heavy water production plant in Khondab is no longer operational following damage sustained amid U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.
In a post on X, the UN nuclear watchdog stated that the facility currently “does not contain any declared nuclear material.” The announcement follows an Iranian report on March 27 saying the site had been targeted in an attack.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi underscored the gravity of the situation on Saturday, stating that “nuclear facilities should never be targeted, nor should their physical integrity be compromised.”
Grossi warned of the “serious consequences” of such strikes and urged all parties to return to the negotiating table to reach a diplomatic resolution.
