Geneva, March 24 (SANA) Oman called on Monday for an international investigation into Israeli violations in the Palestinian territories, stressing the need to support judicial efforts to ensure accountability.
The call came in a statement delivered by Ambassador Idris bin Abdulrahman Al Khanjari, Oman’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, during a Human Rights Council session.
Speaking during an interactive dialogue with UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, Oman expressed “deep concern” over her report, which documented “grave” violations, including torture and inhumane treatment.
The statement said such practices require accountability under international humanitarian law and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
Oman warned that continued violations without accountability risk entrenching what it called a “culture of impunity” and undermining the credibility of the international system. It also reaffirmed support for Albanese’s mandate and rejected attempts to influence it.
The remarks come amid growing international legal pressure on Israel at the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, against the backdrop of the war in Gaza and ongoing tensions in the West Bank.
