Occupied Jerusalem, March 18 (SANA) “Israel” announced Wednesday that Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib was killed in an Israeli raid on Tehran Tuesday evening.
According to Agence France-Presse, Israeli minister Israel Katz said in a statement that “Iran’s Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib was eliminated during last night’s operations.”
Katz added that he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had authorized the army to target and assassinate any senior Iranian official whenever the opportunity arises, without requiring prior political approval.
Israel had announced on Tuesday the killing of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Gholam Reza Soleimani, commander of the Basij forces, in Israeli airstrikes.
Since February 28, the United States and Israel have been carrying out military operations against Iran that have resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and dozens of commanders and officials.
