Abu Dhabi, March 16 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates said its air defense systems intercepted ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran early Monday.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defenses had successfully responded to the missile and drone attacks.
The ministry said sounds heard in several areas across the country were caused by air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles and fighter jets engaging drones and cruise missiles.
Iran has launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting several Arab countries, including the UAE, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure amid rising military tensions in the region.
The escalation comes as fighting intensifies in the broader conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
