Washington, March 13 (SANA) The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Friday that four American soldiers were killed when a KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq.
In a post on social media platform X, CENTCOM said four of the six crew members aboard the aircraft were killed when it went down Wednesday, adding that the incident was not caused by hostile or friendly fire.
CENTCOM had earlier reported that the aircraft had gone missing but provided no further details at the time.
Since the outbreak of the US-Israel war with Iran, seven US soldiers have been confirmed as having been killed in the conflict. The incident rises the death toll to 11.
The crash marks at least the fourth U.S. military aircraft lost since the start of the U.S.–Israeli war on Iran, after three F-15 fighter jets were reportedly shot down by friendly fire over Kuwait.
