Doha, March 2 (SANA) – Qatari authorities said Monday that QatarEnergy had suspended liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and related operations after Iranian drone attacks targeted energy facilities in the country.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said two drones struck separate energy sites without causing casualties. One hit a water storage facility at Mesaieed Energy Industrial City, while the other targeted a QatarEnergy-operated installation in Ras Laffan, the country’s main gas-processing hub.
Authorities said damage assessments were underway and further details would be released later.
QatarEnergy later confirmed a temporary halt to LNG production as a precaution following the attacks on facilities in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed.
The suspension comes amid escalating regional tensions, as Iran continues launching missile and drone attacks following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
