UAE summons Iranian ambassador over missile attacks

Abu Dhabi, Mar. 2 (SANA) – The UAE summoned Iran’s ambassador on Monday and issued a sharply worded protest over Iranian attacks that struck multiple civilian sites across the country, the state-run WAM news agency said.

Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar handed Ambassador Reza Ameri a formal note condemning the attacks “in the strongest terms”, calling them a blatant violation of Emirati sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. He rejected Iran’s explanations for the strikes, which targeted residential neighborhoods, airports, ports, and service facilities.

Al Marar warned that the attacks undermine efforts to de-escalate tensions and could have serious consequences for relations between the two countries. He demanded that Iran halt its actions immediately, adding that the UAE reserves its full legal right to respond.

The UAE and several neighbouring states, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, and Oman, have reported casualties and damage from Iranian missile and drone attacks since Saturday. The escalation followed a joint U.S.–Israeli strike on Iran.
