Brussels, Feb. 2 (SANA) The European Union on Monday condemned Israel’s “repeated violations” of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and called for respect for international humanitarian law.

EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said in a post on the X platform that hundreds of Palestinians were killed or injured in Israeli strikes over the weekend.

“We condemn the repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza,” Lahbib said. “International humanitarian law must be upheld. Civilians must be protected everywhere, at all times.”

International and United Nations bodies have warned that the humanitarian and security situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes, widespread damage to civilian infrastructure and severe weather conditions.

Israeli airstrikes hit several areas of the Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing at least 32 Palestinians, according to local health authorities. International and UN bodies said the continued strikes undermine the ceasefire agreement and urged the international community to act to halt the attacks and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
