Madrid, Jan. 26 (SANA) Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights and Consumer Affairs has launched an investigation into Israeli companies participating in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid (Jan. 21–25) over allegations they offered travel packages to the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ministry is reviewing whether these companies promoted or organized trips to Israeli-occupied areas of the West Bank, potentially violating Article 4 of a Royal Decree enacted in September 2023. This law prohibits the Israeli advertising of goods or services originating from the occupied Palestinian territories.
The investigation specifically targets claims that some firms offered travel deals to locations in the West Bank under Israeli occupation, a practice that would contravene Spanish regulations.
Since the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Israeli authorities have escalated violations in the West Bank, including killings, home demolitions, forced displacement of Palestinians, and the rapid expansion of settlements.
