Kabul, SANA- At least 500 people passed away and hundreds injured in an earthquake hit Kunar province, northeastern Afghanistan on Sunday evening.
Xinhua news agency quoted local sources as saying: “The earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale rattled Hindu Kush mountainous region in northeastern Afghanistan, killing more than 500 people and injuring about 1,000 others”.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said Sunday that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, 42 km eastern-northeastern of Jalalabad.
