Kinshasa July 20 (SANA) The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to expand, with the number of confirmed infections rising to 2,344, according to the latest official figures.
Reuters, quoting local authorities, reported that 930 people have died from the virus as of July 18, based on an update released on Sunday.
Earlier this month, the World Health Organization warned that the outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, is spreading at the fastest pace ever recorded for this variant.
The agency also said that many newly confirmed infections are linked to previously unidentified chains of transmission, posing additional challenges to containment efforts.
