Health Minister Musab al-Ali met with a delegation from the U.N. Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to discuss expanding international cooperation

Damascus, July 15 (SANA) Syrian Health Minister Musab al-Ali met with a delegation from the U.N. Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on Wednesday to discuss expanding international cooperation and strengthening support for Syria’s healthcare sector, including the rehabilitation of medical facilities.

During the meeting, al-Ali stressed the importance of deepening cooperation with international organizations to help restore and upgrade health infrastructure.

He said rehabilitating hospitals and healthcare facilities, alongside supplying essential medical equipment and devices, remains a key priority for the ministry to improve the sector’s operational capacity and enhance healthcare services.

Al-Ali also called for strengthening international partnerships to ensure the sustainability of health projects and expand their reach across all Syrian provinces.

The UNOPS delegation commended the ministry’s efforts to develop the healthcare sector despite ongoing challenges, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the rehabilitation of hospitals and health centers, improving their operational capacity, and expanding assistance programs in line with Syria’s national health priorities.

The delegation also expressed its readiness to strengthen international partnerships and broaden humanitarian and health interventions to support the sustainable development of the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

UNOPS provides project management, infrastructure, and procurement services to the United Nations, governments, and development partners in support of peacebuilding, humanitarian, and sustainable development efforts.
