Damascus, Feb. 3 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Health and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday, funded by the German government through KfW Development Bank, to rehabilitate and equip five hospitals, the ministry said.

The initiative is backed by a comprehensive funding package totaling 35 million euros. Of this, 30 million euros are specifically allocated for the extensive rehabilitation of five key hospitals; Jisr al-Shughur Hospital in Idlib, Halfaya Hospital in Hama, Taldo Hospital in Homs, and the National Hospital in al-Bukamal, alongside the outpatient and pediatric departments at Daraa National Hospital.

An additional 5 million euros will be directed towards revitalizing 25 dispensaries and medical centers throughout various Syrian regions, demonstrating a broad commitment to improving access to healthcare.

The agreement is part of the Syrian government’s efforts to rehabilitate the health sector, which has been heavily damaged by years of war, and to improve health services for residents in areas widely affected by the conflict.
