Damascus, July 20 (SANA) – Syrian industrialists participating in the NASTEX 2026 Syrian International Textile Exhibition called for joint efforts to modernize the country’s manufacturing base, secure production inputs and strengthen the competitiveness of Syrian textile products in domestic and international markets.

Speaking to SANA, industrialist Samer Mustafa said Syria’s textile industry has extensive expertise and a well-established industrial base, but requires greater support in securing raw materials and reducing production costs to improve product quality, pricing and competitiveness.

Samir Aqili, a manufacturer specializing in sewing machinery, said modernizing production lines and encouraging investment in advanced technologies are essential to revitalizing the textile sector. He added that specialized exhibitions provide opportunities to expand business networks, promote Syrian-made products and conclude new commercial agreements.

Industrialist Kamal al-Assali, for his part, said ensuring a stable energy supply and simplifying import and export procedures would help increase production and open new markets. He also stressed the importance of continuing to organize specialized exhibitions that bring together manufacturers, traders and investors.

The participants agreed that Syria’s textile industry retains the expertise, skilled workforce and product quality needed to regain its position in regional and international markets. They expressed hope that supportive government measures would help increase production and boost exports in the coming period.
