Chairmen of Damascus and Irbid Commerce chambers sign a cooperation agreement

Damascus, July 15 (SANA) The Damascus Countryside Chamber of Commerce and Jordan’s Irbid Chamber of Commerce have signed a twinning agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, boosting investment and expanding cooperation between the Syrian and Jordanian private sectors.

The agreement provides a framework for facilitating import and export procedures, increasing trade, exchanging economic and investment information, and organizing trade missions, business forums and commercial delegations.

Abdul Rahim Ziyada, chairman of the Damascus Countryside Chamber of Commerce, described the agreement as an important step toward strengthening economic ties between Syria and Jordan. He said it would provide a practical framework for expanding institutional cooperation, encouraging investment and increasing trade while creating new opportunities for the private sector.

He added that the agreement marks the beginning of a long-term partnership, with joint programs planned to include business delegations, trade exhibitions, investment information exchange and direct networking between business leaders.

Mohammad al-Shouha, chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, said the agreement would help remove obstacles facing the commercial sector by strengthening coordination with relevant authorities in both countries and facilitating the movement of goods and cross-border trade.

Imad Adnan al-Nen, head of the Syrian-Jordanian Business Council, said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing bilateral economic relations through practical initiatives that promote trade, encourage mutual investment and strengthen direct ties between business communities.

The agreement follows a similar twinning accord signed in February between the Damascus Chamber of Commerce and Jordan’s Amman Chamber of Commerce as part of broader efforts to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
